The North Cornwall Book Festival 2022 will host Three Artists in a Granite Landscape, an exhibition of the work of three artists whose projects are united by their elemental attachment to the Penwith peninsula. Amanda Richardson, Sara Bevan and Aidan Hicks work in contrasting materials and aesthetic practices using a common source: the dramatic landscape of one farm on the far western edge of Penwith, West Cornwall. This show combines textile collages of rock and flora, botanical prints, oil landscape paintings and granite sculptures, proving that the common inspiration of a shared location is a springboard for wildly diverse interpretations by artists. The audience will be transported to that ancient terrain where we share the artists’ visions that began with an overgrown clifftop hedge and granite unearthed by the plough. We feel the warmth of the sun and the keen wind, hear the buzz of bees and birdsong above the rumbling surf, and sense the repose of ancestors returned to their granite chambers…
